Client Brief

Miniclip is an international digital games and entertainment company;

A leader in multiplayer games, with a purpose to ‘unleash the gamer in everyone’ with more than 7 billion downloads to date.

They develop, publish and distribute multiplayer mobile games, reaching more than 400 million players each month.

Founded in 2001, they have successfully grown a huge audience in over 195 countries and across six continents.

CBRE, responsible for the overall design of this project, appointed Lopez Landa Interiors to complete this impressive office fit out in 90 Fetter Lane.

THE PROJECT

The main feature in the project was a fully bespoke curved staircase

linking Miniclip’s existing office, located in the 2nd floor of the building with their new space located in the 1st floor.

The first stage of the project was to adapt the 2nd floor to create a compartment in their existing office to ensure the area occupied by the staircase was fully fire rated and compartmentalised throughout the entirety of the project.

After this, the strip out works commenced throughout the 1st floor ceiling area, decommissioning the AC and ventilation system to suit the newly formed lay out.

As part of the strip out, our team fully removed all ceiling sections in the areas where the soffit was going to remain exposed.

The key feature in this project was the bespoke staircase to link both floors;

A full structural assessment took place prior to the commencement of the removal of the waffle concrete slab, installing a crash deck to ensure the slab was removed safely. Over a series of consecutive weekends, due to noise restrictions in the building.

Whilst this works were taking place, the rest of the space was being fitted out including the installation of partitioning (solid and glazed), ceiling alterations and features, as well as floor adaptions.

Once the concrete slab was removed and the 6 m diameter opening was revealed, our steel fabricators started building the feature staircase following a complex 3d modelling created to ensure all steel sections could fit through the narrow access into the building.

THE PROJECT

Our contracts team kept a close eye into the quality of all finishes installed

in this amazing project, ensuring all areas were completed to the highest standards.

Once the steel staircase was completed, our joinery team fully cladded the staircase with oak panels, matching the finish with a photorealistic vinyl all around the curved wall perimeters.

Another great feature in this project was the introduction of curved glass partitioning underneath the staircase structure to form 2 focus rooms, making the best use possible of all available space.

One of the most ‘playful’ elements of this project is the introduction of a laser cut rubber flooring in their breakout area, creating an intricate design of lettering and various sport pitches throughout the space, with a matching linear lighting design mirroring some of the lines in the floor.
